Overview:
The Phlebotomist is accountable for executing all responsibilities associated with specimen collection, receipt, and referrals in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:

• Upholds the organization's philosophy and core values in all customer interactions.
• Proactively seeks opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
• Ensures high-quality work by all team members and coordinates services to enhance customer satisfaction while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
• Complies with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety regulations, and other pertinent standards, ensuring the privacy and security of health information (PHI).
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the collection area and restocks supplies as needed.
• Collaborates with the team lead for the procurement of departmental supplies.
• Conducts all phlebotomy duties, including specimen collection, receipt, and dispatch.
• Prepares specimens for external laboratory referrals, managing the logistics of testing requests, packaging, and documentation.
• Performs a variety of patient specimen collections, such as venipuncture, capillary draws, urine drug screens, skin tests, and cultures.
• Ensures that all specimen requirements are met during collection to maintain integrity.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills by engaging competently with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and colleagues.
• Utilizes the laboratory information system for documenting specimen details, patient registration, order entry, and other assigned tasks.
• Undertakes additional responsibilities as required, including on-call duties, inventory management, special projects, and cross-training.
• Completes performance evaluations and competency assessments for associates in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program with a focus on phlebotomy is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, data entry, and organizational skills is essential.
- One year of phlebotomy experience is preferred.
- Certification from a Nationally Accredited Program is preferred.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
