Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist in performing routine duties, including retrieving and receiving written doctor's orders, prescriptions, or files, performing clerical tasks such as typing labels and maintaining patient profiles, packaging medications, answering phones, keeping records, account receivable and posting, assisting with inventory control, maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy, delivering medications to nursing stations, maintaining computerized databases, restocking automated dispensing cabinets, storing and retrieving archived data, and other duties as defined by state and federal law under the immediate supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Pharmacist in performing routine duties, including retrieving and receiving written doctor's orders, prescriptions, or files.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as typing labels and maintaining patient profiles.
  • Package medications and assist with inventory control.
  • Answer phones and keep records.
  • Assist with account receivable and posting.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy.
  • Deliver medications to nursing stations.
  • Maintain computerized databases.
  • Restock automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Store and retrieve archived data.

Requirements:

  • Certified as a Pharmacy Technician with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy or intern license with Louisiana Board of Pharmacy required.
