Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager 2 to support the Program Management group in our Goleta, CA, facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing key programs within the Goleta business portfolio, including antennas for aircraft, naval, and space applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as liaison between program management and cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, procurement, manufacturing, test, and delivery phases of products.
- Works with the Program Management team to establish milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules.
- Foresees and identifies potential problems and understands impacts to other areas.
- Reviews and manages budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts; prepares status reports for customers and management.
- Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Participates in failure root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed.
- Transitions designs to manufacturing, working with the technical team to identify ways to streamline manufacturing and assembly processes, achieving required delivery rates and reduced cost targets.
- Supports proposal development for change orders and new business and capture and strategic planning.
- Develops customer and supplier relationships to facilitate open communications about project requirements and supplier capabilities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline with 2 years of Project Management experience or experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule and as either project lead, integrated program team lead; OR one year of experience with a master's degree. An additional four years' experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience supporting customers in a project/technical lead role.
- Ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization having excellent presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Proven analytical, technical, strategic and problem-solving skills.
- Highly proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Project.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of Program or Project Management experience or similar (e.g. Lead IPT (Integrated Product Team), or Lead NPT (New Product Team) or Systems Engineering lead.
- Experience with earned value management.
- Aerospace or defense industry experience.
- Familiarity with Antennas and RF Engineering.
- Program execution experience.
- Gated design development experience (PDR, CDR).
- US Government security clearance or ability to get a security clearance.
Working Environment & Physical Demands
- Travel to customer site up to 5-10% of the time both domestic and international as required.
