Job Summary

Montana Tech is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a faculty position in the Mining Engineering department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a research program, and contributing to the department's service and industry relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of mining engineering courses, including introductory and advanced mine design
  • Develop a research program in mining engineering
  • Provide student advising, recruiting, and service to the department and university
  • Establish and maintain industry relationships
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Mining Engineering or a related field by the position start date
  • Or MS degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior college teaching experience
  • Relevant work experience in the mining or related industries
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • MSHA approved instructor or the ability to become one
  • P.E. license or the ability to obtain a Montana P.E. license within three years of hire

  • Ability to carry 30# up a flight of stairs
