Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with patient admissions and discharges as required.
  • Records vital signs, weight, and assists with specimen collection and EKGs.
  • Replenishes supplies in designated areas.
  • Contributes positively as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Maintains a safe and welcoming environment for patients and staff; assists in transporting patients and equipment.
  • Provides both direct and indirect care to patients under the guidance of nursing staff.
  • Acts as an advocate for patients.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of human anatomy and disease processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all communications.
  • Familiarity with patient care standards and medical equipment usage.
  • Knowledge of infection control and prevention methods.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant program or equivalent is preferred.
  • Prior experience in patient care is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

MATH SKILLS:

  • Basic mathematical skills are necessary.

REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to respond to varied and unusual situations that may not be covered by existing protocols.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; must be able to handle objects and tools, and reach with hands and arms. Must frequently lift up to 25 pounds and may assist in moving adult patients. Specific vision and hearing abilities are necessary for effective patient care.
