Generator Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary

As a Generator Service Technician with Consolidated Electrical Distributors, you will play a critical role in providing technical service to our customers for generator equipment and automatic transfer switches. This position requires a strong understanding of diesel and natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches, as well as excellent mechanical and electrical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance and start-ups on generator equipment and automatic transfer switches

• Perform warranty work on power generation equipment

• Process required paperwork within deadlines

• Maintain part inventory of service truck

• Participate in the rotating responsibility of a 24/7 on-call technician rotation

Working Conditions

This role requires frequent travel to customer locations for on-site repairs, working primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. You will work around electricity and other potential hazards, requiring appropriate safety equipment and practices at all times. Much of the equipment used is heavy, so you must have the ability to lift as much as 75 pounds, as needed.

Requirements

• Degree relating to diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches; OR

2 years of experience

• Current, valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

• Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge

• Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office products and Adobe Reader
