Job Overview Position Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist is integral to our healthcare team, embodying the mission and standards of University Hospitals. This professional is responsible for executing essential respiratory therapy tasks under minimal supervision, ensuring high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include:
- Mechanical Ventilation: Managing and adjusting ventilatory support for patients.
- Medicated Aerosol Delivery: Administering prescribed aerosolized medications.
- Airway Clearance Therapy: Implementing techniques to enhance airway patency.
- Patient Monitoring: Observing and documenting patient responses to therapy.
- Oxygen and Humidity Therapy: Providing supplemental oxygen and humidity as needed.
- Special Procedures: Performing critical interventions such as CPR, handling specialty gases, and assisting in bronchoscopy.
General Responsibilities
In addition to the aforementioned duties, the therapist will:
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to all institutional policies and standards.
- Maintain the confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
Educational Background:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Licensure and Certification:
Must hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential and be licensed to practice in Ohio.
Preferred Experience:
This position is particularly suited for those with expertise in neonatal intensive care, labor and delivery, and infant resuscitation. A minimum of two years of NICU experience and participation in deliveries is preferred. The work schedule includes day shifts from Monday to Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays, and involves 25% travel to maintain clinical skills.
Physical Requirements
The role demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Occasional climbing and crawling.
- Constant communication and coordination abilities.
We value our employees and offer a competitive sign-on bonus for those committing to 35 hours or more per week, structured as follows: $3,000 after 90 days and $7,000 after one year, contingent on performance.
