Respiratory Therapist IV

Kern Medical is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist IV to join our team. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for administering respiratory therapy to patients, performing complex treatments, and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Administer IPPB therapy and perform humidity and aerosol therapy
- Administer medical gas and pulmonary drainage procedures
- Perform cardiorespiratory resuscitation, electrocardiography testing, and related procedures
- Provide continuous mechanical ventilation and maintain artificial airways
- Perform more complex pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas sampling
- Clean and prepare equipment, perform routine mechanical maintenance, and make periodic and emergency checks on respiratory therapy equipment installations
- Operate analyzers to determine the saturation of oxygen and other gases in the blood
- Serve as a knowledge resource to physicians and hospital staff, provide suggestions regarding patient treatment and pulmonary progress, and instruct patients and families in the use of equipment and techniques involved in self-care
- Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Possession of a valid, current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, issued by the State of California
- Ability to learn and conduct diagnostic tests, explain and teach others the fundamentals of respiratory therapy, and implement goal-oriented ventilator management
This is a per diem position, and employees are expected to work a minimum of four shifts per four-week schedule. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to emergency calls, and maintain accurate records of treatment given.
