Position Overview
Turner & Townsend is in search of a skilled Senior Preconstruction Estimator to deliver expert estimating, benchmarking, and commercial management services for a prominent global technology client's extensive data center construction initiative. This role will be based in the Charleston, SC area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert estimating services for large-scale data centers, managing essential relationships with clients, general contractors, and project teams from RFP to construction completion.
- Develop comprehensive Project Capital Estimates utilizing a detailed, bottoms-up approach.
- Facilitate the training of templates and tools for general contractors to ensure compliance for commercial evaluations.
- Conduct thorough comparative analyses of commercial submissions from general contractors.
- Oversee the commercial assessment of the competitive bidding process for major trades.
- Assist the project delivery team with post-contract cost analysis and change order evaluations.
- Integrate benchmarking to ensure precise data collection.
- Proven estimating experience, particularly in mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial, or life sciences sectors.
- Experience in data center construction is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Confidence in reviewing Mechanical and/or Electrical Subcontract packages and buyout processes.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, along with relevant field experience.
- Exceptional communication skills and a strong aptitude for client-facing roles.
- Technical understanding of construction industry principles, including value management and value engineering.
- Excellent stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences.
