Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Provider will deliver advanced medical care to patients facing complex acute, critical, and chronic health challenges within a clinical or hospital environment, operating under the guidance of a physician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute complex, standardized patient care procedures requiring specialized training typically performed by a physician.
- Conduct independent and physician-supervised rounds.
- Perform patient evaluations and assessments, providing appropriate treatments, including medication management.
- Coordinate and implement comprehensive patient care plans.
- Assist in gathering patient histories and screening for co-morbidities while offering preventative health guidance.
- Conduct physical examinations and provide episodic or problem-oriented care under physician supervision.
- Order and interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests.
- Monitor patient treatment programs and relay significant medical information to the attending physician.
- Facilitate patient education regarding medical processes, medications, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Support physicians in making therapeutic decisions.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare documentation for physician review.
- Manage supplies and equipment.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Operate within the scope of practice defined by licensure and certification.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider; certification from the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as mandated by the department.
Proficiency in the use of medical and surgical instruments relevant to the role.
Education:
Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
No prior experience required; however, experience in the clinical focus area is preferred.
Physical Demands:
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Considerations:
This position may involve responsibilities that are security sensitive and subject to specific provisions.
Veteran Considerations:
Military occupations relevant to the selection criteria for this position may include various specific codes.
