Job Summary:
The Virginia Community College System is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Emergency Medical Services courses at our Hampton campus. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for designing and delivering instruction for day and evening classes, assessing and grading student performance, and maintaining a strong on-campus presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and delivery of instruction for day and evening classes
- Responsible for student assessment and grading
- Maintains adequate on-campus presence
- Provides timely communication with students, staff, and administrators
Qualifications:
- Current National Registry certification at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level or Virginia certification at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level
- Have a passion for the discipline and a commitment to a student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence for diverse groups of learners
- Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators
- Willingness to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups
- Ability to modify when appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current National Registry certification at the Paramedic level or Virginia certification at the Paramedic level
- Associates degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Current certification as a Virginia EMS Education Coordinator
- Previous instructional experience in a CoAEMSP accredited EMS program
- Community college teaching experience
