About the Role

This is a full-time position with a variety of shifts available, including day, evening, and night shifts. As a Hospital Cleaning Professional, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Operate departmental equipment in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner, maintaining equipment before putting it back in storage.
  • Climb ladders to hang cubicle drapes and window drapes or to reach areas for cleaning and disinfecting purposes.
  • Clean and service hospital building areas, move furniture, equipment, and supplies, and perform various housekeeping and other duties to maintain the hospital's sanitary condition.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, and inside windows by hand, using water, cleaning solution, sponge, and cloths or machine; wash outside windows and screens when requested.
  • Gather and dispose of refuse, wash wastebaskets and large refuse containers, and reline with plastic bags.
  • Clean light fixtures, tops of windows, door frames, and other high places using ladders or scaffolds when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of chemicals and use them safely and efficiently according to hospital guidelines, wearing personal protective equipment as required.
  • Disinfect areas by scrubbing and spraying with approved germicide cleaner.
  • Terminally clean and disinfect all patient rooms, isolation rooms, floors, beds, restrooms, furniture, and equipment after a transfer or discharge from a patient, following Infection Control procedures.
  • Collect regular and infectious waste in a manner established by the Infection Control Committee and/or infectious waste guidelines.
  • Scour, polish, and wash sinks, tubs, mirrors, and other plumbing fixtures, clean water coolers, and replace disposables such as towels, soap, liquid soap dispensers, and toilet tissue.

Requirements

  • Prior training in institutional cleaning is desired but not necessary; previous experience in similar work is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and handle heavy to light loads by pushing or pulling refuse carts and electric or battery-powered equipment.
  • Able to bend, stoop, climb, push, pull, crawl, and stand or walk for long periods.
  • Familiarity with written and oral instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer and cell phone usage.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $42,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
