Position Overview
The Physician at Prisma Health is tasked with delivering high-quality medical services to patients within the Prisma Health-University Medical Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses, prevents, and treats diseases, defects, or injuries, and recommends or prescribes therapies for the alleviation or resolution of physical, mental, or functional issues.
  • Provides medical care to patients in accordance with widely accepted professional standards, irrespective of their financial capacity or demographic background.
  • Maintains accurate, clear, and timely documentation for all medical evaluations and procedures, employing Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes appropriately.
  • Shares after-hours call responsibilities with fellow physicians unless otherwise agreed upon.
  • Adheres to established medical practices, regulations of managed care organizations, and standards set by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
  • Enhances clinical expertise through ongoing medical education to fulfill the requirements of certification and state licensure.
  • Actively engages in non-revenue generating initiatives that support the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health, which may include committee participation, community outreach, and contributing to teaching and research objectives.
  • Involves in responding to proposals for managed care agreements.
  • Contributes to the development of quality assurance programs, utilization management, patient education, and satisfaction initiatives.
  • Assists the organization in securing and maintaining necessary licenses, permits, and accreditations relevant to the practice or department.
Management Responsibilities

This position does not involve management duties and reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Essential Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Completion of Residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible; Medical Staff Privileges
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Medical License in South Carolina
  • Controlled Substance License in South Carolina
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Number
Additional Skills and Experience
