About The Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic individual to fill the Bus Outreach Professional position at The Night Ministry. This role requires a strong understanding of the needs of the communities we serve and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to provide high-quality services.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty. You will work closely with our health services team to provide counseling, HIV/STI testing, and other essential services. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate data entry, conducting community needs assessments, and staying up-to-date on relevant literature and resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Entry: Maintain accurate and timely data entry in internal and external databases.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Assist with basic vehicle pre-maintenance checks, such as refueling and oil inspections.
  • Social Service Referrals: Provide compassionate support to bus visitors, employing motivational interviewing and harm reduction techniques.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with The Night Ministry's health services team to provide counseling and HIV/STI testing.

Qualifications
  • Three years experience engaging in outreach initiatives with the homeless population.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and evidence of insurability.
  • Physically able to walk and/or stand on the street, in all seasons.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Compensation
$19.50 per hour, plus full benefits after 30 days of employment.
