Position Overview: The Juvenile Training and Transport Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating specialized training for juvenile personnel, ensuring compliance with state-mandated topics within certification training programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, prepare, and safely transport juvenile detainees to various placement facilities.
  • Coordinate medical, mental health, and dental appointments for juvenile detainees, ensuring timely transportation.
  • Organize training sessions for officers to guarantee adherence to state standards and completion of required courses.
  • Arrange defensive driving classes for officers and other County staff utilizing the National Safety Council curriculum.
  • Maintain safety and security during the transportation of juvenile detainees to placements, TYC, and appointments.
  • Keep accurate vehicle logs and oversee general maintenance of County vehicles.
  • Assist in the physical training programs designed for juveniles within the facility.
  • Provide comprehensive training to new employees regarding Juvenile Probation Policies and Procedures.
  • Fulfill the duties of a Juvenile Supervision Officer as necessary to uphold appropriate staff-to-juvenile ratios.
  • Design and develop innovative training programs to enhance staff capabilities.
  • Ensure regular and punctual attendance as part of job responsibilities.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of experience as a Juvenile Supervision Officer; equivalent education may substitute for experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, with the ability to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within a specified timeframe.
  • Certification as a Juvenile Supervision Officer, along with certifications in CPR/First Aid and Handle With Care.
  • Meet the requirements outlined in Title 37, Chapters 343 & 344 of the Texas Administrative Code, including good moral character and age criteria.
  • Pass a State Criminal History background check.
  • Maintain drivers liability insurance.
  • Conduct departmental training sessions.
  • Be flexible with scheduling to accommodate out-of-county transports.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Note: Regular attendance and adherence to job responsibilities are essential for this role.
