About the Role
ENGIE North America Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Advisor for Battery Energy Storage Systems to join our team in optimizing energy storage portfolio management.
This senior-level role requires expertise in developing analytics and optimization workflows, with a strong background in mathematical programming, predictive analytics, power systems engineering, and software development.
- We are looking for an individual who can formulate new objectives, develop optimization methods, and collaborate with the team to maximize battery energy storage revenue streams.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, developing, and implementing automated software solutions for monetizing energy storage and other market participation models.
- Strong communication skills are essential for this role, as you will interact with asset managers, traders, facility operators, and risk managers to develop financial and operational algorithms/models that support trading and asset optimization decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop algorithmic product solutions for physical and virtual assets, implement production-grade mathematical code, and verify outcomes through performance benchmarking and unit testing.
- Determine key performance indicators for algorithmic products and contribute to monitoring and iterative product improvement.
- Implement optimization models for short-term operation and long-term valuation of battery storage resources.
- Work closely with the IT development team to determine data storage/access design best fit battery trade/operation.
- Prepare functional specification documents for IT development teams to industrialize proof-of-concept programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent combined education and work experience.
- A minimum of ten years of general business experience.
- A minimum of five years' experience developing analytics and/or optimization workflows.
- Experience with optimization modeling packages and commercial solvers, such as PYOMO, CVXPY, or solver APIs (e.g., Gurobi, Cplex, Xpress).
- Familiarity with time-series and relational database platforms (InfluxDB, MongoDB, Oracle, MS SQL, Postgres).
- Experience in collaborative software development environments (version tracking with Git, code reviews).
