Position Overview:
The Traveling Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for evaluating patients' respiratory needs and delivering appropriate care in both critical and non-critical settings, following physician directives. This role includes setting up and managing ventilatory support and conducting diagnostic assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain ventilatory support for patients of all ages in critical care environments.
  • Adjust and wean patients from ventilatory support in accordance with physician protocols.
  • Document patient assessments and findings in medical records, collaborating with physicians on therapy decisions.
  • Administer respiratory medications and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Provide respiratory care and oxygen therapy as prescribed, assessing the outcomes of treatments.
  • Participate as a member of emergency response teams, performing critical interventions such as arterial blood gas analysis and airway management.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests, including oximetry and pulmonary function tests.
  • Engage in continuous education and training initiatives.
  • Assist physicians during procedures such as bronchoscopy.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
This role requires:
- Ability to sit for up to two hours, stand for up to three hours, and walk for up to twelve hours throughout the day.
- Frequent use of hands for operating equipment and documentation.
- Capability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and push/pull patients or equipment weighing up to 300 pounds.
- Proficiency in assessing patient conditions through tactile and auditory skills.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the relevant state, with credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Experience:
- A minimum of two years in an acute care environment is required, along with BLS and ACLS certifications. Additional certifications may be required based on location.
