Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Therapist at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in providing evaluation and care for patients with respiratory therapy needs. Your primary responsibility will be to administer prescribed respiratory therapeutic services, ensuring the highest level of patient care and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a personalized care plan based on diagnosis.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans, utilizing advanced respiratory care modalities as needed.

• Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.

• Educate patients and families about health conditions, providing information on community support groups and other available resources.

• Assist with care, calibration, and maintenance of equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.

• Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment, adhering to established cleaning and sterilization procedures.

• Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses, working in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent years of experience and education.

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

• Respiratory Care Practitioner registration from the relevant state department of financial and professional regulation.

Work Environment:

This role is a Night Shift position, working 36 hours per week in the Respiratory Therapy department at SSM Health.
