Transportation Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Transportation Specialist to join our team at the Brookings School District 5-1. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from school or school-related activities in a safe, orderly, and timely fashion.
Responsibilities:
- Transport students to and from school or school-related activities in a safe and timely manner.
- Comply with Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirements and maintain a clean driving record.
- Maintain a log and report on each trip, ensuring accurate records of student transportation.
- Enforce order and control on the bus or other school vehicle, promoting a positive and respectful environment for all passengers.
- Perform routine checks on the bus or other school vehicle to ensure safe operation, reporting any issues to the Director of Transportation.
Requirements:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in the State of South Dakota.
- Personal communication skills and ability to work with diverse individuals.
- Proper medical certification as required by the Brookings School District, the Department of Education and Cultural Affairs, and the State of South Dakota.
- Background checks required for final candidates.
Working Conditions: This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with students, parents, and staff. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. A valid CDL and a clean driving record are required for this position.
