Position Overview
We are seeking applications for a Preschool Activity Program Educator to design, lead, and facilitate engaging classes for preschool-aged children (3 to 5 years old).
This program provides a nurturing and supportive environment where young children can explore foundational concepts such as letters, colors, numbers, and sounds through a variety of planned activities, including music, storytelling, arts and crafts, and interactive sharing sessions. The small group setting promotes the development of social skills, with a teacher-to-student ratio of two educators for every 14 to 16 children.
Instructors are expected to be available for the academic year, with approximately 8 hours of teaching per week, and may have opportunities for additional hours based on program requirements. Attendance at pre-session staff training sessions is also required.
The starting hourly wage is negotiable within the established range and will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Direct deposit of paychecks is mandatory for all employees.
Key Responsibilities
Your Role Includes:
- Setting educational goals and objectives for the program.
- Planning and executing activities that cater to the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of participating children.
- Ensuring constant supervision of children.
- Organizing and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate enrichment events and learning activities, including field trips and guest speakers.
- Creating promotional materials, program communications, flyers, and newsletters.
- Documenting program activities through photographs (with parental consent).
- Assisting in the distribution of marketing and public relations materials.
- Monitoring and managing inventory of program supplies and equipment; ensuring cleanliness and safety.
- Communicating student-related issues to the Facility Manager and fellow instructors.
- Fostering a positive, safe, and nurturing environment that encourages social interaction.
- Establishing routines and providing constructive guidance.
- Tracking student progress and supporting skill development.
- Maintaining open communication with parents regarding program expectations and their child's development.
- Coordinating events such as Parents' Night and year-end celebrations.
- Managing participant registrations and emergency contact information.
- Setting up and dismantling the classroom environment.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a closely related field.
- Preferred: Early Childhood Certification (94 credit hours).
- Required: Previous paid experience working with youth.
- Preferred: Prior teaching experience.
- Ability to interact positively and professionally with children and parents.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and multitasking skills.
- Capability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions quickly.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (may be obtained upon hire).
- Any acceptable combination of education, experience, and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform job duties effectively.
