We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our Otolaryngology ENT service at RWJBarnabas Health. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our physicians and staff to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Job Summary:The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for providing primary health care to patients in the Otolaryngology ENT service. This includes performing duties independently, following established and standardized procedures and methods, and referring questionable situations to physicians. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of ENT or surgical experience and be certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Responsibilities:- Administer injections, immunizations, and oral medications, and start IVs as needed.
- Assist physicians by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders, and transcribing orders.
- Assist with various counseling and education functions, including billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations.
- Develop and implement plans of care for patients in coordination with the multidisciplinary team and complete appropriate reports to physicians and family.
- Document and maintain patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with other medical providers.
- Examine patients to determine the presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, and medical history, and prescribe treatments as indicated.
- Interview, instruct, and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention, and instruct patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Issue prescriptions to patients based on Federal and State Regulations.
- Order and review appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures, and review all lab data and documents.
- Participate in the development of protocols and perform and obtain completed medical histories and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings.
- Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations, and provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant policies such as HIPAA, OSHA, and Code of Conduct.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice, and reviews and audits charts routinely.
- Suture wounds, incise and drain wounds, and repair lacerations as needed.
- Work in collaboration with a physician to diagnose conditions as necessary.
- Valid NJ RN and APN license (or Physician Assistant license)
- 1-3 years of ENT or surgical experience, preferably in plastic/general surgery or ENT
- ACLS and BLS certification
- Current NJ APN/PA license
- NCCPA certification
- CDS
- RNFA required for APN with OR skills
- DEA
- New graduates with high levels of motivation may also apply
- Candidate must have high work ethic and a willingness to learn and work
- Will consider FNP with acute care experience and RNFA and a desire to go to the operating room
- Willing to train the right new graduate
