Position Title:
Educational Support Specialist

Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the essential educational and related criteria for employment as an Educational Support Specialist within Fairbanks Local Schools. A valid Educational Aide licensure from the Ohio Department of Education is required. ESEA Qualified endorsement is advantageous but not mandatory.

Proven commitment and successful experience in assisting students facing complex behavioral health issues to thrive in a standard classroom setting.

Ability to collaborate effectively with professional staff to implement intricate interventions successfully.
Demonstrated emotional resilience, flexibility, and stability necessary for the role.

Reports To:
Building Principal (with functional guidance from Clinical Coordinator)

Job Goal:

To contribute to the development and ongoing enhancement of a high-functioning, school-based, intensive (Tier 3) intervention that provides clinical and behavioral support and skill development for young learners (grades K-5) experiencing complex, often trauma-related, behavioral health challenges.


Performance Responsibilities:


Collaborates with the Clinical Coordinator, school leaders, counselors, teachers, and external support entities to design and continuously refine a program aimed at assisting students with complex behavioral health challenges in effectively engaging in the standard classroom environment.

For each student involved in the Tier 3 intervention, supports the effective execution of a comprehensive plan that integrates clinical, care coordination, family, and classroom support.

Works alongside the Clinical Coordinator to maintain an environment in the designated Tier 3 intervention spaces that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity and interests of the students.

Provides 1:1 and/or small-group clinical intervention to participating students on a flexible, as-needed basis.

Collaborates closely with the assigned teacher(s) of participating students to support the integration of successful strategies into the regular classroom setting.

Assists in tracking the progress of students who have transitioned out of the Tier 3 intervention.
Ensures that all necessary data is collected and entered into data management systems in accordance with program protocols.

Engages in professional development activities and seeks to incorporate insights from these experiences into practice to enhance the Tier 3 intervention continuously.

Participates in staff meetings and contributes to staff and/or school committees as appropriate.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
