Safety Specialist Job Description

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Safety Specialist to join our team at our Huger, SC location.

This entry-level role involves a variety of administrative and analytical duties, as well as opportunities for practical application of knowledge in the field. The successful candidate will serve our organization's EHS team and be developed by safety and environmental professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile and analyze safety data and reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize analysis to make recommendations to enhance safety programs and protocols.
  • Oversee OSHA recordkeeping requirements and support the injury case management process to ensure accurate data reporting.
  • Assist with the development of safety training and programs to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the EHS Portal and provide required management reporting.
  • Participate in site safety inspections and regulatory compliance audits to ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in investigating safety-related incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide and/or facilitate required safety training to employees.
  • Assist management in ensuring that employees have access to appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), safety tools, and equipment.
  • Develop worksite safety topics for safety meetings and monitor applicable compliance and training records.
  • Attend and participate in monthly safety committee meetings to stay informed and contribute to the development of safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and act as a subject matter expert on routine safety matters.
  • Work with divisional safety managers to support their safety programs and initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, EH&S, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety Technology.
  • Safety-related experience or internship.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and DOT standards.
  • Knowledge of local or state required safety and environmental standards.
  • Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Workable knowledge of EHS Portal or comparable safety software system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format individually and in group settings.
  • Ability to interface with various levels of employees and customers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Good driving record.
