Job Summary

As a Shop Foreman at Bruckner Truck & Equipment, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the Service department. You will oversee the work of the mechanics, diagnose complex problems, and ensure that all repairs are completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic ability of all components of the truck
  • Help in writing up repair orders and communicating with drivers and owners to determine problems and solutions
  • Schedule and assign jobs and work areas to employees according to their skills and knowledge
  • Inspect and advise mechanics on work as it progresses
  • Keep track of each customer job and advise the customer on time of completion, cost of repairs, and additional repairs
  • Road test and dyno test trucks to diagnose problems and ensure repairs are complete
  • Ensure the buildings, grounds, and work areas are kept clean and neatly arranged
  • Help in determining parts to be replaced and follow through with the mechanics and Parts Department
  • Complete repair orders by getting the mechanics' write-up of the repairs, ensuring parts are billed correctly, and adding all necessary lines to the ticket
  • Be familiar with warranty of all parts of the truck and determine if a repair is warrantable
  • Be at work at least 30 minutes prior to the mechanics' start time to analyze the work schedule
  • Be willing to work additional hours as the workload and business requires
Requirements
  • Minimum high school diploma required
  • Minimum 4 years as a mechanic and at least 2 years as a shop foreman or lead mechanic
  • Ability to read computer-generated reports, office reports, invoices, etc.
  • Ability to operate computer terminals
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact well with customers, vendors, and co-workers
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required
