Job Title: HPC Cybersecurity Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled HPC Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team at Los Alamos National Laboratory. As an HPC Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be responsible for integrating modern cybersecurity tools and technologies into our High Performance Computing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date on cybersecurity tools and techniques to integrate new software tools into our HPC security software stack.
  • Assist the HPC ISSO and Cybersecurity Team with designing and implementing cybersecurity solutions for the HPC Division.
  • Work closely with HPC Cybersecurity leads to assist in implementing our overall cybersecurity plan.
  • Assist in the review of cybersecurity configurations and controls.
  • Validate new HPC systems by working with HPC admins to improve security or implement mitigations.
  • Strengthen our existing cybersecurity infrastructure and prepare for the integration of future technologies.
  • Assist in the setup, administration, and maintenance of Linux-based servers using a configuration management system and monitoring software systems.
  • Participate in periodic on-call responsibilities and work collaboratively with other members of the team to provide technical assistance in problem-solving and day-to-day operation and monitoring of various HPC systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Assurance, Computer Science.
  • Strong Linux knowledge and expertise as an administrator.
  • Experience with multiple Linux distributions.
  • Knowledge of High Performance Computing, including environments and supporting infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, including system architectures, computer networks, software, and multi-tenancy.
  • Experience with large-scale network file systems and data movement tools.
  • Experience with configuration management tools and automating security processes.
  • Experience using enterprise monitoring tools and knowledge of microservices and containers.
  • Knowledge of and experience with securing resources deployed in a cloud environment.
  • Active DOE 'Q' clearance.
