Position Summary:
We are currently in search of dedicated individuals for the role of Underground Telecommunications Construction Specialist. This position is ideal for those who are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and thrive in a dynamic work environment. The role offers competitive compensation starting at $18 per hour, contingent upon experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in all aspects of underground construction, which includes but is not limited to loading, driving, delivering, excavating, and handling various construction materials and equipment.
- Utilize hand tools and mechanical equipment for excavation tasks.
- Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
- Safely operate heavy machinery and equipment.
- Work effectively in both congested and remote locations.
- Ensure safety by maintaining visual and audible contact with crew members and surrounding vehicles.
- Perform general construction duties under the guidance of a Foreman or Supervisor.
- Conduct flagging and restoration of work sites.
- Adhere to safety regulations and maintain safe working conditions.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Successful completion of background checks, drug tests, and DOT physical examinations is required.
- Basic understanding of utility trucks and equipment operation.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills with customers and team members.
- Regular attendance is crucial, with the ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call as necessary.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience with hand and power tools is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. regularly.
- Capability to climb in and out of various types of equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Specific vision abilities are necessary for this role, including close and distance vision.
