Job Title: Scale Inspector

About the Job

This role involves ensuring that scales used in businesses across the Northeast region of Kansas comply with state regulations. The selected individual will be responsible for inspecting and testing scales, issuing formal orders for non-compliant scales, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test scales to ensure compliance with state statutes and regulations.
  • Issue formal orders for non-compliant scales on behalf of the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results and reports.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with basic algebraic functions and unit conversions.
  • The ability to read and comprehend complex written directions, policies, statutes, and regulations.
  • A current Class C driver's license without restrictions (with a requirement to obtain a Kansas Commercial Driver's License within the first year of employment).
Preferred Qualifications

While not required, having prior experience working in the agribusiness, retail, or wholesale industry is preferred. Additionally, experience working with scales and other weighing devices can be beneficial.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
