Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant Specialist to join our team in the Gastroenterology Lab at Baylor Scott & White Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work under clinical oversight to perform examinations and procedures proficiently.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant to utilize their skills and knowledge in a fast-paced gastroenterology setting. You will be responsible for guiding fellow technicians to ensure procedures meet high standards, overseeing teammates cleaning and sterilizing equipment, and maintaining a safe healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with non-sedation procedures, ensuring patients are informed and answering questions about the process.
  • Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures, using scopes, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with emergencies like CPR.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, training and overseeing others to ensure quality control during gastrointestinal procedures.
  • Monitor patient physiological data in the recovery room, preparing specimen slides for lab investigation.
  • Ensure technicians follow standards, providing feedback and training new technicians.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Nurses to document required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
  • Order supplies, obtain supervisor approval, and communicate with vendors for timely delivery.
  • Monitor equipment, create quality reports, and manage maintenance schedules and installation.

  • Familiarity with patient care norms and procedures.
  • The ability to recognize and communicate changes in a patient's health to other team members and doctors.
  • Consistent adherence to safety measures, infection control strategies, and isolation routines.
  • Delivering excellent customer service marked by understanding, patience, and certainty.
  • Effective interpersonal abilities to establish positive interactions with patients and fellow team members.

As a valued member of our team, you will enjoy a competitive salary of $65,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits that empower you to live well. Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • A Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate or willingness to obtain one within 30 days.
