Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technician

Position Overview:
The licensed technician in the cardiac catheterization laboratory plays a crucial role in assisting with cardiac catheterization procedures by ensuring high-quality imaging and proper image management in accordance with departmental protocols. This position involves operating fluoroscopy equipment to deliver optimal imaging for cardiologists during both diagnostic and therapeutic catheterizations. Responsibilities also encompass accurate billing for each procedure performed. The technician will support the cardiologist in a scrub assistant capacity during various catheterization procedures, which includes hemodynamic monitoring and data collection.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and sanitary working environment, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
- Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the technician role in the cardiac catheterization lab.
- Ensure the imaging equipment operates effectively within the catheterization lab.
- Assist physicians by providing necessary images and sequences for both diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Manage communication within the lab, including handling pages, lab specimens, and housekeeping requests.
- Perform duties as a Monitor Technician, acquiring hemodynamic and electrophysiological data.
- Update procedural changes and prepare supply requisitions as needed.
- Support the physician as a scrub technician during diagnostic coronary arteriography and cardiac interventions.
- Maintain proficiency in the roles of Radiographic Technician, Monitor Technician, and Scrub Technician through ongoing education.
- Required Education:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree with a focus on science or equivalent healthcare experience.
- Required Certification / Licensure:
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- RCIS certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
- ARRT and TX RT(R) certification required in lieu of RCIS.
