Position: Child Support Specialist I/II
Compensation:
- Level I H30A - $36, Comprehensive State Employee Benefits
- Level II H30B - $39, Comprehensive State Employee Benefits
Job-related travel may be required. A valid driver's license and appropriate car insurance are necessary.
We are seeking a dedicated individual to assist in the initiation and management of child support enforcement cases. This is a full-time role that offers complete state benefits.
Qualifications and Experience
Child Support Specialist I:
- A bachelor's degree is required at this level.
- OR a combination of education and experience, where one year of professional experience in child support enforcement, accounting, legal, or social work can substitute for each year of the required education.
- OR an associate's degree in Legal Assistance or a related paralegal education program.
- OR an associate's degree in Public Service – Legal Case Management.
- OR completion of an American Bar Association-approved paralegal education program.
Child Support Specialist II:
- A bachelor's degree is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with one additional year of professional experience in child support enforcement, accounting, legal, or social work.
- OR a master's degree or Juris Doctorate degree.
- OR an associate's degree in Legal Assistance or a related paralegal education program along with two years of qualifying experience.
- OR an associate's degree in Public Service – Legal Case Management with two years of qualifying experience.
- OR completion of an American Bar Association-approved paralegal education program with two years of qualifying experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, analyze, and evaluate child support cases for appropriate establishment and enforcement actions.
- Prepare documentation including payment records, legal pleadings, and correspondence.
- Maintain and update computer records, perform locate activities, and document case activities.
- Facilitate negotiations for settlements and agreed orders.
- Mediate between involved parties to resolve issues related to child support payments.
- Monitor and manage case logs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
