About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Medtronic. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the technical and mechanical design of market-released implantable neuro devices.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to evaluate and implement design changes, represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects, and identify and oversee testing required to obtain necessary data to support field actions, regulatory renewals, submissions, and deficiency responses.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Interacting with personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Providing a critical evaluation of the impact of manufacturing and supplier change on fielded products.
  • Initiating change activity (CA) to modify and maintain design documentation (BOMs, Specs, drawings).
  • Supporting CAPA's (Corrective & Preventive Actions) and RPI's (Released Product Investigations) including possible CAPA ownership.
  • Providing RPE input to new product development teams.
  • Researching, planning, designing, verifying, validating, and developing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems.
  • Recommending various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility, or program improvements regarding safety, performance, efficiency, or costs.
  • May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of mechanical engineering experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of implantable generators and leads.
  • Working level understanding of implantable procedures, clinical use conditions, new indications, competitive product landscape & state-of-the-art industry status.
  • Proficient knowledge of medical device industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional group problem-solving, decision-making, and small projects, including CAPA's.
  • Solid leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively formulate and convey technical and cost/benefit/risk information with peers and senior leaders.
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma (DFSS) principles.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $98,147,600.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
