About the Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Operational Director for Laboratory and Surgical Pathology to join our team at Mass General Brigham. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading the laboratory and surgical pathology departments, ensuring efficient operations, effective management of personnel, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the technical and support services of all laboratory and surgical pathology sections to promote efficiency and optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with department chairs, medical directors, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and objectives in collaboration with department chairs and administrators.
  • Represent Newton Wellesley Hospital in enterprise pathology committees and workgroups, providing feedback, advocating for local needs, and executing on enterprise initiatives for standardization, patient experience, and efficiency.
  • Supervise laboratory leadership teams, including input from department chairs and section medical directors.
  • Participate in departmental Quality Improvement Committee and collaborate with MGB Pathology Quality/Safety/Compliance to develop and implement policies, procedures, and techniques relative to safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with medical and nursing staff to requisition and schedule laboratory procedures, patient preparation, and report findings to ensure effective patient care management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or medical laboratory sciences required; Master's degree in business or healthcare administration preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive healthcare/laboratory management experience.
  • ASCP or comparable certification is preferred.

Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
