Job Title: Staff Attorney - Foreclosure Prevention

Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our team in Mt. Vernon, NY. As a Staff Attorney, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality legal representation to low-income individuals and families in our seven-county service area.

Position Description

The Staff Attorney will work on matters related to foreclosure prevention, primarily in Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland Counties. This includes foreclosure litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and related matters such as probate and administration. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Intake and individual case work
  • Litigation in state and federal courts, including appellate practice
  • Education and outreach efforts directed at community members and service providers
Qualifications
  • Member in good standing of the New York State Bar
  • Three or more years of legal experience, including litigation, or its equivalent
  • Excellent people skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Benefits

LSHV offers a competitive salary range of $68,351 - $126,373, DOE, union scale, with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability coverages. We also offer a defined contribution to 403b, loan repayment assistance, and paid parental leave.
