About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Vocational Counselor to join our team at Omega Health Services. As a Vocational Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their employment goals and increase their independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Job Support and Placement: Provide quality job support and placement services to individuals with disabilities, including pre-employment obligations, job coaching, and ongoing support.
  • Assistive Technology and Accommodations: Remain knowledgeable about relevant assistive technology and reasonable accommodations that may assist individuals with disabilities in the workplace, and discuss with individuals supported and/or employers as appropriate.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Observe, report, document, and provide corrective guidance and solutions to challenges and issues that arise in the workplace.
  • Relationship Building: Facilitate positive relationships between the individual we support and their coworkers and supervisors, and look for opportunities to develop natural supports within the workplace.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively to the individual's entire Person-Centered Planning (PCP) team regarding the needs of the employer and the individual being supported.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Verify attendance on a regular basis for each individual on caseload, complete all weekly support visits for individuals on caseload, and enter service logs into OHS's client management software on a daily basis.
  • Training and Development: Actively participate in regular meetings with the Disability Service Coordination team, and engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, General Education, or History & Arts, or Associates Degree with 1 year of relevant experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Excellent presentation, public speaking, and group facilitation skills, excellent customer service, ability to cultivate existing relationships at schools, universities, and local businesses, strong planning and organizational skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and proficiency working with Workplace by Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Asana.
  • Certifications and Training: First Aid/CPR, Relias Training/Online Virtual Training, and proficiency in assistive technology and reasonable accommodations.
