About the Role

The Fabrication Shop Supervisor at Wells is a key position responsible for overseeing the production output, supervising staff, and ensuring that products meet plant specifications and quality expectations. This role requires a strong understanding of construction and fabrication procedures, as well as excellent management skills to drive efficiency and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily/weekly employee time schedules to optimize resource allocation.
  • Conduct breakdowns/take-offs of raw material orders to ensure timely delivery and reduce waste.
  • Coordinate delivery and handling processes of raw materials to minimize disruptions and delays.
  • Schedule and supervise the production of hardware needed for Company product molds to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Conduct weekly safety/toolbox talks among employees to promote a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Assign work to department personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity, and employee capabilities.
  • Readily perceive and effectively respond to schedules and product flows essential to supervising highly productive, cost-effective, quality-oriented manufacturing operations.
  • Recommend and initiate improvements to production processes to increase manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Establish and control procedures to ensure the production of conforming fabricated assembly components.
  • Monitor and control established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Establish and monitor cost control systems to achieve department budget objectives.
  • Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Facilitate and promote company policy and Quality Improvement programs within all department workgroups.
  • Provide training, support, direction, and guidance to department personnel to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Provide objective feedback for continued employee growth and development.
  • Recommend and administer personnel actions under company policies and procedures.
  • Set department goals and develop an outline for achievement to drive business success.
  • To work overtime as requested to meet production demands and deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in precast/prestressed concrete or related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction and fabrication procedures to drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong ability to oversee complex operations, analyze technical data, and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including overtime, to meet production demands and deadlines.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Proficient in GMAW/SMAW Welding, Plasma cutting, Shears, saws, and similar equipment to maintain high-quality standards.

Working Conditions

This position requires working in an indoor/outdoor environment, exposed to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, dust, excessive noise, welding gases, and fumes. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, welding hood, safety glasses, and hearing protection must be worn at all times.
