Surgical Clinical Technician

Position Overview

The Surgical Clinical Technician plays a vital role in providing supportive patient care under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse within the Operating Room environment. This position is essential in maintaining a hygienic and secure atmosphere, ensuring efficient post-procedure clean-up and preparation for subsequent procedures.

Age Groups Served:
Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Room Preparation and Turnover**: Assist in the timely turnover and readiness of surgical rooms. Adhere to established protocols for cleaning and preparing suites between procedures. Stay informed about room status and initiate clean-up as directed by the RN to facilitate efficient room turnover.

2. **Work Area Maintenance**: Keep the work area organized and clean. Ensure that assigned areas are sanitized and that necessary equipment is readily available. Maintain quality assurance documentation as required.

3. **Supply Management**: Monitor and manage supplies, ensuring the availability of linens and other necessary items. Maintain appropriate supply levels and procure items as needed.

4. **Transport Duties**: Execute courier responsibilities by transporting items throughout the facility. Respond promptly to requests for specimen or equipment transport.

5. **Patient Care Support**: Provide patient care under the guidance of an RN. Apply orthopedic devices as required and assist with the procurement, transport, and setup of equipment for room preparation. Ensure safe transport of patients, specimens, and labs with proper documentation. Aid in patient positioning and preparation.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: Preferred experience includes 1 year in environmental services and 1 year in an operating room setting.

Licensure/Certification:
Required: BLS (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.

Preferred: Additional certifications may enhance candidacy.
