Job Description: Private Swim Lesson Instructor

We are seeking a motivated and experienced swim instructor to join our team as a Private Swim Lesson Instructor at the Hal Welsh East Area Family YMCA. As a Private Swim Lesson Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching private swim lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct private swim lessons to students in accordance with YMCA guidelines and association policies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student
  • Provide positive relationships with participants and provide motivational support and guidance
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possess the ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke technique
  • Must have approval of Swim Lesson Coordinator to teach lessons
  • Training & Certifications: Must complete online Bloodborne Pathogens, Employee Safety and Youth Protection Series trainings prior to initial assignment to position. Must hold and maintain current CPR, AED, first aid and oxygen administration within 60-days of hire date.

Work Environment:

This position requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, swimming, bending, reaching, crouching or crawling, climbing and/or balancing, reaching with hands and arms, handling or feeling, stooping, climbing up and down an elevated chair, lifting, moving and carrying approximately 35 pounds, climbing a minimum of two flights of stairs (approximately every 1⁄2 hour) and using of hands and fingers. Ability to handle emergency situations. Ability to lift a small to average size child.
