Job Summary

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Mechanical Superintendent to lead the Plumbing and HVAC department for the Installation Support Services for Geographically Separated Locations (ISS2) contract. This position is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, including safety, productivity, work schedules, work quality, and coordination with other superintendents and project leads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and direct the work activities for plumbers and HVAC technicians.
  • Supervise plumbers and HVAC technicians in the performance of their duties.
  • Enforce safety standards and conduct on-the-job training.
  • Make rapid, appropriate decisions to solve problems of varying complexity while keeping safety a priority.
  • Recognize symptoms of poor equipment maintenance and direct and facilitate corrective actions.
  • Lead and direct the diagnosis and repair of plumbing systems, HVAC ducting and equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain inline instrumentation.
  • Competent in MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Overall computer literacy and the ability to self-teach the use of new programs and applications.
  • Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively.
  • Possess fundamental electromechanical operation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Possess fundamental understanding of HVAC split system and package unit systems operations and maintenance.
  • Possess fundamental understanding of plumbing and piping systems.
  • Possess fundamental understanding of heating, ducting, and thermostat control systems and associated operation and troubleshooting principles.
  • Experience with facilities maintenance and understanding of associated principles.
  • Organize work/crew schedule and implement safety procedures.
  • Maintain and submit daily and weekly reporting records.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.
Qualifications and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent is preferred.
Skills, Abilities, and Years of Experience
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in plumbing and/or HVAC operations and maintenance and/or mechanical engineering.
  • Four years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Having experience working in or with a labor union is a preference.
  • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Reporting skills, administrative writing skills, Microsoft Office skills, managing processes, organization, analyzing information, professionalism, problem-solving, inventory control, verbal communication.
  • Project management experience.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • All persons employed for this contract must be U.S. citizens and qualified to obtain and/or maintain a personnel security clearance with the U.S. Government.
