POSITION SUMMARY

The Fleet Operations Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Fleet Supervisor by monitoring the mechanical condition of our vehicles and fulfilling the transportation needs of our diverse programs. This position is responsible for managing the vehicle safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with registration requirements, and overseeing the maintenance of our fleet.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee safety and maintenance protocols for a fleet exceeding 200 vehicles.
  • Assist the Fleet Supervisor in assessing the transportation needs of various programs.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and provide guidance to Program Leaders on optimal driver scheduling and vehicle utilization.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly registered and equipped with valid license plates.
  • Monitor vehicle usage and operational costs, including fuel, tolls, and maintenance, to identify cost-effective transportation solutions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of vehicle servicing and inspections.
  • Identify reliable and economical local mechanics for maintenance and repair services.
  • Ensure adherence to CAL-OSHA and U.S. Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Schedule and document regular maintenance to enhance operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Analyze operational data to improve transportation efficiency.
  • Utilize GPS technology to monitor vehicle locations and prevent misuse.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of a fingerprint clearance and background check.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement to be obtained within 90 days of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-4 years of experience in logistics or transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, transportation, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
