Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team at Head Start Inc. as a Nutrition Support Specialist. This part-time position, 20 hours a week, requires a passion for working with children and an understanding of dietary needs and healthy eating practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to our preschoolers, adhering to standardized recipes and production records.
  • Practice safe food handling guidelines and kitchen sanitation standards, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for our children.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, recipes, production records, and meal counts, as well as receiving and putting away deliveries.
  • Participate in on-going site evaluation of menu acceptability, plate waste, and feeding atmosphere, and engage in classroom nutrition education activities when assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents, fostering a teamwork environment and supporting the agency's mission and philosophy.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED/equivalent and a minimum of six months' experience cooking in a quantity food service operation.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Respect and sensitivity for cultural, racial, and economic differences, with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Working Conditions

The work environment is a busy food kitchen, with exposure to kitchen chemicals, humidity, hot stoves, and other kitchen equipment. The noise level is moderate to loud.
