Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Excellence and Patient Care
- Evaluate and assess employees who are acutely ill, determining the urgency of care required.
- Refer cases to the appropriate company or personal healthcare provider as necessary.
- Conduct essential testing for employees, including audiometry, spirometry, and vision screenings.
- Implement health and safety initiatives on various topics such as blood pressure management, burn treatment, wellness strategies, and CPR training.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, ensuring timely documentation for legal compliance.
- Effectively execute provider orders with precision and promptness.
- Adhere to all UnityPoint Health and company-specific policies and protocols.
- Assist in initiating and following up on case management.
- Operate independently in a clinic setting staffed by a single nurse.
- Deliver high-quality care while demonstrating the necessary knowledge and clinical skills for the assigned area.
- Employ a holistic approach, considering the biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, and safety needs of patients and their families.
- Utilize critical thinking to make independent decisions, maintaining accountability for patient conditions.
- Support all aspects of the Occupational Health clinic as directed by the Occupational Health and Employee Health Director.
Minimum Requirements

Not required but beneficial for the role.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN required within five years of hire).
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Experience:
A minimum of three years of nursing experience.
One year of outpatient clinical experience or demonstrated clinical proficiency.
Prior experience in Occupational Health nursing is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.
Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
Certification in spirometry from NIOSH is required.
CAOHC certification for Occupational Hearing Conservation is required.
Certification in Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol Testing/Screening is required.
