As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for creating engaging and dynamic programs for patrons of all ages with a focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).", "Responsibilities": "* Provide reference, reader\u2019s advisory, technology, research databases, and library account assistance to patrons at public service desks, or by phone.
* Plan, promote, implement, and evaluate programs including story times for patrons of all ages.
* Develop and coordinate outreach events at elementary schools and other community organizations.
* Advance teen engagement with the library by guiding a Teen Advisory Board, eliciting teen input on library programs and services, and recruiting teen volunteers.
* Provide input and recommendations on all aspects of the library\u2019s performance including: collections, services, workflows, facility design and organization, and staff performance.
* Serve as manager on duty with a focus on scheduling functions and resolving patron issues through de-escalation tactics.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate records, keep expenses within the budget, collect statistics, and prepare reports about programs and events.
* Attend staff meetings and serve on committees with a focus on representing the needs and interests of the patrons living in the neighborhoods the library serves.
* Attend conferences, networks with other educational program professionals and observes programs at other library and community locations to maintain knowledge of trends and interests regarding program offerings that sustain or increase audience engagement.
* Perform opening and closing duties.
Requirements:
* Education and experience: Master\u2019s degree in library and information science from an accredited program and three years of progressively responsible experience in a public library setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Technical skills: Intermediate skills with using personal computers, performing data entry and using information databases.
Desired Qualifications:
* Spanish language skills and/or experience working with patrons from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
* Experience promoting programs for patrons of all ages using social media strategies, preferably in a public library setting.
Working Conditions:
* Partially sedentary and partially physical work that requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of 40 pounds.
* Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard.
* Requires sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate a computer, office, and library equipment.
* Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permit the employee to work in a multilevel facility.
* Seeing, hearing, and speaking required.
