Job Summary

This position entails promoting program services to the community, overseeing the program budget, and ensuring the delivery of program services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining program records, analyzing program revenue and success, and supervising or providing guidance to designated staff members.


Key Responsibilities

The Aquatics Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Developing a maintenance schedule for the aquatic facility and conducting daily safety inspections, upkeep, and minor fixes in accordance with Health Department regulations.
  • Monitoring all pool activities closely, identifying any potential hazards, enforcing pool rules and safety regulations, and maintaining communication with management and all pool areas via radio.
  • Procuring necessary pool-related supplies and equipment as per Department guidelines and upon request.
  • Planning aquatic programs and activities, including open swim, aquatics instruction, aquatic fitness, and special events.
  • Directing lifeguards and water attendant employees, ensuring accurate attendance record-keeping, and supervising directly the full-time Aquatics Programmer and Aquatics Supervisor.
  • Performing daily and weekly chemical readings, keeping detailed chemical logs, and ensuring that pool chemical levels adhere to health code standards.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Aquatics Coordinator must have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Leisure and Recreation Service or a closely related field.
  • Two years of relevant work experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer and/or Water Safety Instructor Trainer or equivalent.
  • CPRP certification or equivalent.
  • Membership and involvement in related professional organization(s).
  • Completion of NRPA National Aquatics Management School (NAMS).

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

The successful candidate must satisfactorily pass pre-employment screenings for criminal, credit, and DMV backgrounds. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are also required.
