Job Title: Custodian

Exeter is seeking a skilled Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dust and clean surfaces
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
  • Strip, wash, and buff floors
  • Replace light bulbs
  • Clean walls, glass partitions, and windows
  • Clean toilets, bathrooms, and common areas
  • Report any mechanical issues to the lead person
  • Use work order system to report deficiencies and follow up on open orders
  • Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs
  • Lock and unlock public buildings as required
  • Remove rubbish and clean containers
  • Operate power cleaning equipment
  • Clean entrances and perform yard care
  • Requisition and receive supplies
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous custodial experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and achieve high results with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate commercial floor care equipment and climb ladders
  • Respect for diversity and cultural competency
  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods and equipment
  • Ability to perform duties with medium to heavy physical exertion
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills and techniques
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with students and maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to remain standing for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs
  2. Ability to climb stairs and navigate uneven terrain
Additional Requirements:
  1. Successfully complete a criminal background check
  2. Clean driving record
  3. Ability to work as essential personnel during emergency events or inclement weather
