Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team in the Surgical Trauma Unit. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our nursing staff in delivering high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and effective patient care, ensuring proper patient positioning and care throughout the patient's stay.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in carrying out the established plan of care for assigned patients.
  • Practice sound safety and infection control practices according to hospital policy and procedures.
  • Obtain vital signs and differentiate normal from abnormal findings, reporting any concerns to the RN/LPN.
  • Participate as a member of the patient care team, asking for additional tasks or helping others when not busy.
  • Accurately gather information and perform data entry.
  • Perform transportation responsibilities, including transporting patients and delivering laboratory specimens, blood products, and medications to other departments.
  • Document patient care and ensure accurate and complete information is recorded.
  • Implement care based on prioritized patient needs, in coordination with the RN/LPN.
  • Participate in a unique, outcome-focused plan of care based on current nursing practice, with measurable outcomes and goals for the patient/family.
  • Participate in the coordination of care with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assist in the discharge planning process.
  • Identify realistic expected outcomes to facilitate the patient's optimum level of health and anticipated continuation of care.
  • Perform chart audits to promote quality improvement.
  • Promote quality care based on ongoing monitoring of patient/family response or changing condition, inclusive of quality control of appropriate systems and equipment.
  • Report patient/family response or changing condition to the RN/LPN and update the plan of care as needed.
  • Ensure practice and adherence to professional standards, statutes, regulations, hospital, and departmental policies, and standards of care.
Requirements:
  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required
  • Less than 1 year of work experience required
  • CNA-Certified Nurse Aide - ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center Required
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Skilled in maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Microsoft Office Suite required
  • EPIC documentation preferred
