Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to join our team at Wharton County Junior College. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing operations, budget, equipment, and facilities for the College's Management Information System (MIS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Selection, acquisition, and maintenance of hardware and software necessary to support the college MIS
  • Oracle database support, Windows and Unix/Linux servers support, infrastructure planning and design, capacity planning, client interface, storage administration, security incident prevention and response
  • Installation of hardware and software, analysis, troubleshooting, and diagnostics
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information system or related field)
  • Four years of full-time work experience in information technology, MIS management, database applications, or other system management, preferably in a college environment
  • Experience supporting remote sites is a plus
  • Experience with Unix/Linux, all versions of Windows OS Servers, Oracle database and Weblogic servers, SQLServer, MySQL, SQL/Plus, electronic document management systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Domain Name Service, the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs, Apache web server, Tomcat servlet engine
