Job Summary

The City of Appleton is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Inspector to join our team. As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with City and State codes by performing routine field inspections, investigating complaints, issuing permits, reviewing proposals and plans, and interacting with the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations.
  • Investigate complaints and concerns from the public and take appropriate action.
  • Issue permits and licenses as required by City and State regulations.
  • Review and approve proposals and plans for electrical installations and modifications.
  • Interact with the public, providing information and guidance on electrical codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Considerable experience in building construction with technical training in reading blueprints and other related materials.
  • Certification as UDC Electrical Inspector and/or Commercial Electrical Inspector with the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and regulations, including the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
