We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform repairs and maintenance in our plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more maintenance trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment.
- Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure they are always in proper working order.
- Care for machinery and equipment by cleaning them after use, adjusting parts, and lubricating moving components as needed.
- Examine moving parts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for signs of excessive wear, defects, and damage.
- Record all maintenance and repair services performed and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process.
- Order or request orders to be placed to replenish materials and parts when inventory grows low or is depleted.
- Study manufacturer manuals and blueprints and carefully follow directions when operating or setting up newly acquired machinery.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work experience working in a manufacturing environment, chemical manufacturing preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Five or more years of experience as an industrial mechanic.
- Three or more years of experience repairing industrial-size pumps, including replacing mechanical seals.
- Experience installing carbon steel and stainless-steel piping and operating a threading machine.
The expected salary for this union position is $34.03 per hour. This role is also eligible to earn a bonus and benefits as defined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
