About the Role

Aegis Treatment Centers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Counselor to join our team. As a Counselor, you will play a vital role in the recovery journey of our patients, providing guidance, support, and evidence-based treatment to help them overcome addiction and achieve long-term sobriety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Orientation and Intake Services: Welcome new patients to our program, explaining our rules, policies, and procedures, as well as their rights and responsibilities.
  • Conduct Assessments and Treatment Planning: Administer biopsychosocial assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide counseling services to address patients' clinical and special needs.
  • Monitor Patient Progress and Document Outcomes: Track patients' progress, identifying and addressing relapse indicators, and documenting counseling entries, including signatures and dates.
  • Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Work closely with physicians, physician extenders, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and address high-risk conditions.
  • Engage in Community Relations and Outreach: Participate in community events, provide education and support to patients and families, and promote our program's services.
  • Attend Training and Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to enhance your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date on best practices and evidence-based treatments.
Requirements
  • Counselor Registration/Certification: Possess registration or certification from a recognized certifying organization, such as the California Association of Addiction Recovery Counselors (CAARC).
  • Education and Experience: Hold an associate degree in a relevant field or a majority of approved counselor certification courses, with 0-5 years of experience, depending on the level of certification.
  • Licensure and Certification: Possess a valid license or certification from the Board of Behavioral Sciences or the Board of Psychology, or be license-eligible with the Board's requirements.
