Key Responsibilities
- Oversees a portfolio of intricate commercial claims, characterized by significant exposures requiring specialized technical knowledge and coordination.
- Delivers outstanding customer service by managing all facets of the claim process with professionalism and efficiency.
- Confirms coverage and sets appropriate reserves through policy interpretation and collaboration with coverage legal counsel.
- Directs investigations to assess compensability, liability, and damages.
- Works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective claim resolutions.
- Establishes and oversees claim budgets while maintaining high service quality.
- Identifies subrogation and salvage opportunities as well as potential fraud incidents.
- Ensures adherence to quality standards and compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Provides mentorship and support to junior Claims Professionals.
- May undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Structure
Typically reports to a Director or higher.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of the commercial insurance sector, including products, policy language, and claims procedures.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Proven analytical and investigative skills with a strong critical thinking approach.
- Demonstrated work ethic and effective time management capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience in negotiating complex settlements and interpreting commercial insurance policies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently.
- Respect for diverse perspectives and ideas.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of six years of relevant claims handling experience.
- Must possess or acquire an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of employment.
- Prior experience in negotiation is essential.
- Preferred professional designations (e.g., CPCU).
